HB 699

AN ACT relating to elections.

In Plain Language

This bill requires election officials to check that candidates meet the eligibility requirements for the offices they're seeking, like living in the right area or being registered with the correct political party. Officials must notify candidates if they don't qualify by the first Friday after the filing deadline, and candidates can appeal to court if they disagree. The bill also moves back the deadline for officially certifying candidates from the second Friday to the third Friday after filing.
