SB 46
AN ACT relating to school transportation and declaring an emergency.
In Plain Language
This bill allows schools to use smaller vans and cars (designed for 10 or fewer passengers instead of 9) for student transportation. It lets local school districts decide their own rules for using these vehicles on regular routes and to school activities, while reducing statewide training and drug testing requirements for drivers of these smaller vehicles. Parents who are paid to drive students to school are exempt from these requirements.
